Águas de Coimbra signed the contract for the operation of the restaurant space at the Estação Elevatória de Coimbra – Biblioteca Carlos Fiolhais, following a public tender. The agreement was signed between Águas de Coimbra, represented by president Pedro Geirinhas, the municipal company, led by Ricardo Lacerda, and António Costanzo, on behalf of the operating entity.
The space will operate as Panino & Vino, an Italian-concept cafeteria and sandwich bar, specialized in artisanal panini, Italian coffee, wine by the glass, craft beer and ice cream. The in-house production of bread and pasta is one of the central elements of the concept, which combines fast service with quality and Italian gastronomic tradition.
The cafeteria has terraces next to the garden and the Mondego river, designed for different times of day, from coffee breaks or lunch to late afternoon. The planned hours are from 10:00 to 23:00 in summer and from 12:00 to 20:00 in winter, also adapting to events held at the venue.
The operation was awarded for an initial period of 10 years, with the aim of encouraging closer and more regular use of the library. Águas de Coimbra states that the restaurant complements the existing cultural, scientific and reading activities, contributing to making the library and surrounding area an increasingly meeting and gathering place for the population.
