Government says rating upgrade is a step toward credibility

Observador5 September 2026 at 18:34

The Portuguese Government considered that the upgrade of Portugal's rating represents "another step toward credibility and growing international confidence" in the country. The positive assessment confirms Portugal as "an increasingly relevant partner" in the international context. The assigned rating reflects the favorable perception of rating agencies regarding the Portuguese economic and financial situation, as well as the country's ability to meet its obligations. This recognition comes as validation of the fiscal consolidation efforts and structural reforms implemented by the Government.
