Coach Luís Pinto wants Gil Vicente to produce more offensively in the home match against Académico de Viseu on Sunday, for the fifth round of the I Liga. The team from Barcelos drew 0-0 in Famalicão in the previous round and is the only team in the league without goals conceded, but has only scored three goals, in addition to having one fewer game regarding the trip to Sporting de Braga.
Académico de Viseu has two away draws, both 2-2, against Benfica at the Luz and against Marítimo in Madeira. Luís Pinto warned that the games will be different because Académico defends differently from Famalicão, but defended that the team's identity must be maintained.
In recent days, Brazilian midfielder Guilherme Gomes, formerly of Flamengo, arrived at Gil Vicente, while Argentine midfielder Facundo Cáseres left for Laguna Santos in Mexico. The club also registered Sergio Bermejo, a Spanish forward who had already represented the gilistas in the last two seasons. The coach expressed satisfaction with the transfer market balance, noting that there are players ready to make up for Cáseres' departure.
Spanish midfielder Santi Garcia, who had been close to leaving, ended up staying at the club. Luís Pinto revealed that Cáseres' departure allowed him to be more demanding in the negotiation of Garcia's departure.
