The National Republican Guard (GNR) arrested 564 people in flagrant delicto during operations carried out across the country between August 28 and September 3. The operations covered the entire Portuguese national territory during that one-week period.
Driving under the influence of alcohol was the main reason for arrests, with 229 cases registered. This offense represented the largest part of the arrests made by the authorities during the week in question.
In addition to driving under the influence of alcohol, the GNR made 124 arrests for driving without a legal license and 61 arrests for drug trafficking. These three categories of crimes were the main reasons for arrests in flagrant delicto during the operational period.
