The financial rating agency Fitch elevated Portugal's economic rating to A+ last Friday, in a decision that represents a significant improvement in Portugal's risk classification.
The President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, considered this upgrade an "excellent news" for the country, acknowledging the positive impact of this classification.
According to the head of State, this positive evolution reflects a "responsibility orientation maintained across different governments," suggesting that consistency in economic policies across the various administrations contributed to this result.
The rating upgrade by Fitch underscores the perception of greater stability and financial solidity of Portugal in the international economic scenario.
