PORT WINE DAY CELEBRATES 270 YEARS OF THE DOURO REGION WITH TASTINGS AND SUNSET PARTY

Port Wine is once again in the spotlight on September 10th, the date when Port Wine Day is celebrated, in a special edition integrated into the commemoration of 270 years of the Demarcated Region of Douro. The program includes tastings dedicated to Vintage references, the awarding of "Douro + Sustainable" distinctions to projects and personalities with relevant contributions to the sustainable valorization of the region, and several initiatives open to the public.

On September 11th, an open tasting of 2024 harvest Vintage Ports takes place, between 5pm and 8pm, at the facilities of the Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e do Porto, in Porto, where some references from that harvest will be presented.

On the 12th, Mercado do Bolhão hosts a sunset party dedicated to Port Wine, from 5pm to 10pm, in the Gallery on the 3rd Floor. Around 30 producers will showcase different styles of the drink in a relaxed setting, seeking to attract new consumers, including younger audiences, by associating the product with less traditional social moments.

With these initiatives, the Port Wine Day celebrations aim to reinforce Port Wine's position as one of the most internationally recognized products and one of the greatest symbols of Douro and Portuguese identity, showcasing its versatility without losing its connection to the history and territory that gave it origin.

Portugal rises to A+ in Fitch's rating and Seguro calls it "excellent news"

The financial rating agency Fitch upgraded Portugal's rating from A to A+, with a stable outlook, in a decision classified by President of the Republic António José Seguro as "excellent news" and one of the most relevant of 2026. Fitch justified the upgrade with the strengthening of public finances, the trajectory of public debt reduction, and the strong political commitment to fiscal prudence, also highlighting governance indicators above the median of A-category countries. The Ministry of Finance considered that this improvement places Portugal at the level of France and Belgium, demonstrating the confidence of international investors, although the agency warned about the still elevated levels of public and external debt as risk factors.
