Estremoz once again celebrated its identity, traditions, and community spirit with another edition of the City Festivities and the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, one of the most anticipated moments in the municipality's festive calendar. The Rossio Marquês de Pombal became the center of celebrations, welcoming locals and visitors for a weekend marked by faith, tradition, music, and fellowship.
The festivities were organized by the Estremoz City Council and the Parish of Santo André, seeking to preserve the religious dimension associated with the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, while also providing an entertainment program aimed at different audiences and generations. With free entry, the event combined religious ceremonies with musical entertainment, establishing itself as a moment of community gathering and appreciation of local identity.
Traditional and popular Portuguese music took center stage right at the start of the festivities, with Os Vouguinhas, a traditional Portuguese musical group from São Pedro do Sul, performing on the stage set up at Rossio Marquês de Pombal. On Saturday, José Cid, an iconic name in Portuguese music, brought the audience a repertoire marked by hits that span generations. On Sunday, ÁTOA closed the musical program for the weekend.
The initiative provided Estremoz residents with the opportunity to reunite with family, friends, and neighbors, but also opened the city's doors to those who visited during this festive period.
