The American band Rise Against performed on Friday night at the Palco Mundo stage of Rock in Rio, being the third act of the night. Vocalist Tim McIllrath interacted with the audience from the opening song, asking if everyone was feeling good about the night. The group, from Chicago, took to the stage after fireworks and videos on the LED screen showing part of the 41 years of history of the festival.
McIllrath introduced himself to the audience saying "We're Rise Against, from Chicago! We came a long way", before performing "Under the knife", which came after "Re-education (through labor)", the first song of the show. The singer didn't stop talking to the audience during the performance, smiling behind his characteristic little mustache.
McIllrath's and Zach Blair's guitars sounded timid at the beginning of the performance, but the sound gained strength and reached new heights, provoking the delirium of the good-sized crowd present. The spectators enthusiastically sang along to the band's song choruses.
The vocalist also commented that the band has been coming to Brazil for years and that the shows are always great. The critique highlights that Rise Against's anguished punk attracted a good crowd to Palco Mundo on this first day of the festival.
