BCP has already repurchased 174.9 million shares corresponding to 1.18% of capital for 186.4 million

Jornal Económico4 September 2026 at 23:30

Banco Comercial Português (BCP) announced that it has already repurchased 174,930,369 own shares, corresponding to 1.18% of its share capital, for a total amount of 186.4 million euros. Between August 31 and September 4, the bank made additional acquisitions of 18,760,465 securities on the regulated market Euronext Lisbon, through the entity J.P. Morgan SE, responsible for executing the program.

The purchases were made at average prices ranging between 1.1190 euros (on September 1) and 1.1463 euros (on September 4). The day with the highest volume was September 3, when BCP bought 6,027,723 shares, representing 9.38% of the total trading volume on Euronext Lisbon that day.

The buyback program, approved on May 27, provides for a maximum investment of 407,458,786 euros and the acquisition of up to 1,184,370,167 ordinary shares, corresponding to 8% of the share capital. The plan runs between June 4 and December 4, 2025, and may be terminated early if the maximum number of shares or the monetary amount is reached.

BCP's objective is the subsequent cancellation of the acquired shares, subject to shareholder approval, which may increase, relatively speaking, the stake of shareholders who retain their securities. The program is part of BCP's shareholder remuneration policy for the 2025-2028 strategic plan period, which combines dividend distribution with share buybacks, while maintaining adequate capital levels.

Estarreka: ENERGEST optimizes energy efficiency at CIRES

CIRES, a chemical sector company belonging to the Shin-Etsu Group located in Estarreja, once again relied on ENERGEST to optimize the energy efficiency of its facility. The project consisted of integrating a third heat economizer to better utilize the energy from exhaust gases, increasing the overall system efficiency. The recovery boiler, which already produces 35 t/h of saturated steam at 10 barg, was thus enhanced. It should be noted that CIRES has been operating for more than eight years with a Natural Gas Cogeneration Center, which is fundamental for the industry's international competitiveness.

The initiative encourages domestic production and sets progressive mandatory blending targets for the domestic market. Currently, Brazil imports more than 80% of the fertilizers it consumes, which represents a strategic risk for food security and national sovereignty.
