CIRES – Companhia Industrial de Resinas Sintéticas, a chemical sector company specializing in PVC production and belonging to the Shin-Etsu Group, located in Estarreja, continued its strategy of continuous improvement of energy efficiency at its manufacturing plant. For more than eight years, the company has had a Cogeneration Center with a natural gas turbine, responsible for the production of electrical and thermal energy, which has been an essential factor for the international competitiveness of this industry due to its high energy efficiency.
ENERGEST – Engenharia e Sistemas de Energia was the company responsible for the project, construction, and installation of the recovery boiler with post-combustion system and the BoP (Balance of Plant). This recovery boiler is prepared to operate as a conventional boiler, producing the same 35 tons per hour of saturated steam at 10 barg, through the adaptation of a power combustion system with appropriate characteristics.
CIRES once again turned to ENERGEST to implement an additional measure that further optimizes the overall performance of the facility. This intervention involved the integration of a third heat economizer, also known as a heat recovery unit, which reinforces the capacity to utilize the energy from exhaust gases and increases the overall system efficiency. ENERGEST was the supplier and installer of the equipment.
