Brazilian beef exports fall 19.7% in August after Chinese quota exhaustion

oglobo4 September 2026 at 21:21

Brazilian beef exports fell 19.7% in August compared to the same month last year. The data comes from the trade balance released by the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services (Mdic).

Despite the increase in prices, export volumes declined 27.1% during the period. The combination of higher prices with lower volumes indicates a significant reduction in the quantity of meat traded internationally.

The result directly reflects the exhaustion of the Chinese quota for Brazilian beef imports. China is one of the main buyer markets for Brazilian beef, and the depletion of this quota limited sales to the Asian country during the month.
