Private sector entrepreneurs are organizing to release a new manifesto asking the president of the Supreme Federal Court, Edson Fachin, to adopt a code of conduct for the court's magistrates. The mobilization occurs amid a scenario of distrust in the country's highest court, whose function is to guarantee compliance with the Constitution.
The entrepreneurs' outrage was motivated by the revelation of conversations between Minister Alexandre de Moraes and banker Daniel Vorcaro, owner of Master bank, according to a Federal Police investigation. The case raised questions about the court's independence and impartiality.
The most forceful statement came from the founder and chairman of the board of the Petz Cobasi Group, Sergio Zimerman. During the Brazil Business Forum event, held this week in São Paulo, the businessman harshly criticized the crisis at the STF and the facts revealed by the Federal Police.
Zimerman stated that the population should take to the streets if the investigations involving Moraes and Vorcaro do not result in punishments. According to him, if nothing happens regarding the investigations, people need to mobilize to demand answers.
