Ovar: Street vendor arrested after brandishing razor at police

A 35-year-old man was arrested by the PSP in Ovar at Furadouro beach for resistance and coercion against a public official, as well as threats with a bladed weapon. The police intervention took place as part of an inspection operation targeting street fish sales, an activity that had previously resulted in a fine, but was still being carried out at the location.

The incident occurred on August 30th, at 12:00, when during the inspection, one of the individuals present adopted a resistant behavior, brandishing a razor and directing threats at one of the police officers while advancing towards them.

Given the risk to the physical integrity of those involved and the high concentration of people at the location, the police officers resorted to non-lethal coercive means to stop the threat and control the suspect. The individual was ultimately immobilized through the intervention of the police officers and bystanders who were present at the scene.

The arrested person was subsequently taken to the police station, where the arrest was formalized. Brought before the judicial authority, he was subject to a Statement of Identity and Residence, with the case going to inquiry.
