One dead in attack on Queiroz tourist camp

A tourist camp belonging to the former national football coach of Portugal and Mozambique, Carlos Queiroz, was targeted in an attack during the night. The camp, located in Pemba, was looted, burned and vandalized by insurgents.

The attackers came from Cabo Delgado province, a region that has been the scene of extremist violence. During the attack, one person died.

The incident resulted in the displacement of two thousand people from the surrounding area of the camp. Mozambican authorities have not yet commented officially on the case.
