A tourist camp in Niassa, northern Mozambique, was targeted in an attack by insurgents. The attack resulted in the death of one person and the displacement of two thousand people from the region.
The insurgents responsible for the attack are from the neighboring province of Cabo Delgado, which is also in the north of the country and has been affected by armed groups since 2017.
The province of Cabo Delgado is known for its natural gas reserves. According to Silva Livone, the insurgents seek to reinforce their logistics through recurrent incursions in the Niassa region.
The article refers to Carlos Queiroz as a coach, in a context that suggests a connection to the attacked tourist camp.
