Iniciativa Liberal (IL) demanded this afternoon a "serious proposal" for the acquisition of the house of Madeiran artist Lourdes Castro, located in Caniço. The party considers that the potential classification of the property must be accompanied by a concrete strategy and not just intentions.
The position was taken through a press release signed by deputy Gonçalo Maia Camelo. For IL, it is essential that there be a concrete purchase offer directed to the current owner of the house.
The party also advocates that a "credible project" should be presented for the installation of a cultural facility dedicated to the legacy of Lourdes Castro, in order to ensure that the preservation of the property has a defined purpose.
Iniciativa Liberal believes that classification by itself is not enough, and that it is necessary to demonstrate a real commitment to the enhancement of the work and memory of the Madeiran artist.
