The leader of PS/Açores, Francisco César, defended that the celebrations of 50 years of the consecution of regional autonomy should serve to demonstrate that the Azores can aim for much more than has been achieved so far. César spoke in Horta, on the island of Faial, during a solemn commemorative session of the 50 years of Autonomy.
The ceremony was attended by the president of the Assembly of the Republic, José Pedro Aguiar-Branco, who was also present at the event that marked this important anniversary for the autonomous region.
Francisco César emphasized that the celebrations should not only serve to recall the path already taken since the consecution of autonomy, but also to look to the future with greater aspirations and demands for the Azores.
The intervention of the socialist leader is part of the official commemorations of the 50 years of regional autonomy of the Azores, a historic milestone that has been celebrated throughout this week in the region.
