Donald Trump appointed Adam Telle as the new Acting Secretary of the United States Army, following Dan Driscoll's resignation. Telle had been serving as Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works and is expected to immediately assume leadership of the largest branch of the American Armed Forces. Trump made the appointment official through the social media platform Truth Social, describing Telle as a "great patriot, respected by everyone," while Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated that the new leader will be an "immediate asset" to the United States.
Driscoll's departure came after months of disagreements with Hegseth over the direction and modernization of the Army. The conflicts between the two officials centered, among other issues, on efforts to modernize the Army and the mass dismissals of officers carried out by Hegseth, including the former chief of the branch of the Armed Forces, Randy George.
The United States Secretary of the Navy, John Phelan, was also removed from the Pentagon over alleged disputes with Hegseth regarding plans to renew vessels of the American fleet.
