Former mayor of Gaia Eduardo Vítor Rodrigues was acquitted of the crimes of prevarication and embezzlement he was charged with. The court decided on acquittal in a case related to the alleged use of municipal money to buy tickets for football games.
In addition to Eduardo Vítor Rodrigues, the court also acquitted former vice-president Patrocínio Azevedo and the then secretary of the presidency, who were also involved in the case.
The case centered on the accusation that public money was used to purchase tickets for football matches, in a situation involving members of the Vila Nova de Gaia municipal council.
