The Vila Nova de Gaia Court acquitted Eduardo Vítor Rodrigues, former socialist politician, of embezzlement and misconduct charges. All defendants in the case were cleared of the accusations.

The Public Prosecutor had requested a prison sentence of 4 to 6 years for the former municipal mayor. The charges were related to trips to Champions League matches that allegedly caused damages to public funds estimated at 15,800 euros.

The court's decision marks the conclusion of this legal case involving the socialist politician while he held local government office. The case was marked by controversy over the use of public resources for personal purposes.
