A consortium that has former player Alexandre Pato among its investors had its purchase of a shareholding in Northampton Town Football Club, a team from the fourth tier of English football, approved. The club announced the agreement this Friday after the necessary approval from the Independent Football Regulator (IFR) and the clearance process with the English Football League (EFL).
The size of the Sports Alpha Capital (SAC) shares and the financial details involved in the deal were not disclosed by the English club at this stage. The consortium is described by Northampton Town as an investment group focused on football, created to bring together long-term capital, operational expertise, and a practical approach to club management.
The club highlighted the strong connection between Brazil and the United Kingdom present in the investor group. According to the statement, there is genuine passion for football within the consortium, and several of the investors have already visited Northampton, spent time at the club, and attended games.
