The Polytechnic University of Beja will deliver a Higher Technical Professional Course in Border and Eurocity Tourism in Vila Real de Santo António. The training will take place at the School of Hospitality and Tourism in Vila Real de Santo António and will cover the cross-border territory of the Eurocity Guadiana.
The course covers the municipalities of Alcoutim, Castro Marim, Vila Real de Santo António, and Tavira, as well as Barrancos, Serpa, Mértola, and Moura, in the district of Beja. Classes are scheduled to begin in the 2026/2027 academic year.
The university justified the creation of the course as an investment in bringing higher education closer to the needs of the territory and the opportunities arising from its strategic border location.
The collaboration with Tourism of Portugal, through the School of Hospitality and Tourism in Vila Real de Santo António, was highlighted as particularly relevant, providing a training framework linked to one of the main economic activities of the region.
