Local entrepreneurs feel "persecuted" by the GNR, which has been carrying out inspection operations in the territory of Angra do Heroísmo, on the island of Terceira, in the Azores.
The business chamber argues that the fines issued are not related to the legality of the companies' operations, suggesting that the issues raised by the authorities are of minor importance.
The institution also calls for inspections to focus on the parallel market, rather than targeting legal and licensed commercial establishments.
