MOONS opens a thousand eyes on the Universe with an important Portuguese contribution

The MOONS instrument, a large-scale astronomy project, will observe the sky over the coming years, pointing a thousand "eyes" at a time toward the Universe. The equipment is capable of piercing through cosmic dust and traveling back in time, allowing us to study the evolution of the cosmos.

The main objective of MOONS is to contribute to telling the story of stars, galaxies, and the Universe itself, gathering data on their formation and development over billions of years.

The project features an important Portuguese contribution, which participated in this international initiative of space exploration and astronomical data collection.
