BCP, BPI and Montepio banks are putting up for sale a total of 265 million euros in non-performing loans. This operation involves the sale of problematic asset portfolios by these three Portuguese financial institutions.
These sales are joined by Novobanco, which launched "Project Horizon" to divest assets that belonged to Luís Filipe Vieira, former president of Benfica. This portfolio includes properties and credits associated with the former leader of the Lisbon club.
The joint operation of these four banks represents a significant effort to clean up balance sheets in the Portuguese financial sector, in a context where institutions have been reducing their exposure to non-performing loans.
