The mansion listed at R$220 million, considered the most expensive in Brazil, has begun to disappear from the landscape of Jardim Pernambuco, a sophisticated neighborhood in Leblon, Rio de Janeiro. The large house, which remained in negotiations for six years between its owners and developer Mozak, will be demolished to make way for a new real estate project.
The land will house the gated community Estância Pernambuco, with only ten high-end houses. Even before demolition progressed, seven units had already been sold, with values ranging between R$24 million and R$42 million, leaving only three houses available for sale.
The lots in the new development will be between 900m² and 1,800m², a size considered rare in Jardim Pernambuco, where plots typically have about 500m² and much of the land is located on sloped areas. One of the main features of the new community will be the predominance of flat spaces, unlike the typical profile of the area.
At the time of demolition, the house still had furniture and paintings inside, which are being removed by the former owners. The property offered views of the sea, Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, and the Christ the Redeemer statue, characteristics that justified the original high sale value.
