The mansion advertised for R$ 220 million, considered the most expensive in Brazil, is being demolished in Jardim Pernambuco, a privileged neighborhood in Leblon, Rio de Janeiro. The house, which was in negotiation for six years between owners and developer Mozak, will give way to the Estância Pernambuco closed condominium, with only ten high-standard houses. Even before the demolition advances, seven units have already been sold for values between R$ 24 million and R$ 42 million, with only three remaining. The lots range from 900m² to 1,800m², a size considered rare in the region, where land normally has about 500m² and much of it is on sloping areas.

Ricardo Gomes: "The sector and activity are better than they were a year ago, but we continue to move slowly"

AICCOPN president Ricardo Gomes acknowledges that the construction sector and activity are better than a year ago, but warns that they continue to progress slowly. After years of supply shortage, price escalation, and difficulties meeting demand, the government implemented measures to accelerate housing construction, including the reduction of VAT from 23% to 6%. The question that arises is whether these measures will be sufficient to address the housing deficit in Portugal.
