The President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, is on vacation in Porto Covo. During these holidays, he published on social media a photograph of himself working, accompanied by the caption "what cannot wait". What cannot wait, according to what is suggested in the post, is the promulgation of legislative decrees.

Regarding the Luís Neves case, which has been in the news, the President of the Republic remains silent. Luís Neves is the mayor of the Municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia who was detained by the Judicial Police as part of an investigation involving alleged crimes of corruption, influence peddling, and money laundering.

The social media post comes at a time when Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa is away from Lisbon, on vacation. The photograph shows the head of state carrying out presidential duties, namely the promulgation of decrees, even during the rest period.

PCP de Beja demands IP8 road project between Sines and Vila Verde de Ficalho

The PCP of Beja has once again demanded the construction of the IP8 between Sines and Vila Verde de Ficalho with a motorway profile without tolls, accusing PSD/CDS and PS of carrying out "propaganda maneuvers" with the opening of new variants in the region. The PCP's Regional Organization Directorate of Beja (DORBE) states that, 19 years after the concession tender was announced and six years after the opening of the link section to the A26, only two small four-lane sections related to the Beringel and Figueira dos Cavaleiros bypasses have been opened, which, despite representing progress, do not replace the original project. The communists consider that the planned improvement works cannot be considered within the scope of a true main itinerary, arguing that the path to improving accessibility must be a different one. Recently, Infraestruturas de Portugal opened the improved sections between Ferreira do Alentejo and Beja, Santa Margarida do Sado and Ferreira do Alentejo, and Relvas Verdes and Roncão to traffic, with investments of 33.6 million and 30.5 million euros, respectively.
