To this day, there is no evidence that life formed in Space. Although the ingredients of life can form in Space, this does not prove they reached Earth. The hypothesis that some essential components of life were produced in Space and transported to our planet continues to be mentioned, but remains without definitive confirmation.
Amino acids, sugars and nucleic acid bases have already been found in meteorites and asteroid samples. Furthermore, laboratory experiments demonstrate that more complex molecules can also form under conditions similar to those in Space, which fuels the theory that life could have extraterrestrial origins.
However, despite these discoveries, the results are far from proving that terrestrial life began in this way. Philip Ball, in an article published in Chemistry World, points out that finding the necessary ingredients does not equate to proving that those same ingredients actually gave rise to life on Earth.
