The Urbanisation Plan for the Industrial and Logistics Zone of Sines (PUZILS), in force since 2008, is to be revised to adapt the planning to the new needs of the territory. The plan covers 4,157 hectares and approximately 21% of the municipality of Sines, in the district of Setúbal.
The revision is justified by the manifest public and strategic interest associated with the development and planning of ZILS. Sines City Council approved, in early August, the restart of the revision procedure, with a 24-month deadline established for its completion and approval.
The revision should follow the transformation of the industrial and logistics fabric, balancing economic development, land planning, and environmental protection. This dimension is particularly relevant in a municipality where 76.3% of the territory is classified as National Ecological Reserve, according to data from CCDR Alentejo.
The municipality will take advantage of the studies and opinions previously carried out, maintaining the framework of the Strategic Environmental Assessment already developed and validated.
