Zoomarine returned to the sea two sea turtles that had been rescued on the Algarve coast. The turtles, named Xianna and Xaloc, received treatment and care at the park before being released.
Xianna was rescued after being found with plastics in her digestive system, which caused her health problems. In turn, Xaloc was accidentally caught in fishing nets, a common situation that threatens these species.
Before being returned to their natural habitat, both turtles received satellite transmitters. This technology allows researchers to track the movements and behavior of the turtles at sea, contributing to research and conservation of the species.
The content was originally published by Barlavento, which reported the return of the two turtles to the sea by the Zoomarine team.
