The Ministry of Finance revealed that the tax authorities paid up to August 31, 2.590 million euros in income tax refunds, almost the entirety of the 2.660 million euros that have to be returned to taxpayers with already settled declarations.
The average value of each refund stood at 980 euros, according to the data provided by the ministry.
The data refers to the processing of income tax declarations relating to the previous fiscal year, in a process that normally takes place in the first months of the year and whose refunds are made on a phased basis.
The information was provided by the Ministry of Finance, which monitors the pace of payment of refunds to taxpayers who declared amounts to receive from the State.
