Hospital in Tocha in Cantanhede will have university residence for 30 students

Correio da Manhã3 September 2026 at 15:18

The Hospital Arsíneo de Valongueiro, located in Tocha, in the municipality of Cantanhede, will host a university residence intended to accommodate 30 students. This infrastructure aims to meet the accommodation needs of students from the School of Health Technology of the Polytechnic University of Coimbra.

The planned investment for this residence is 100 thousand euros. The project emerges as a response to the growing demand for training in the health area at that higher education institution.

The residence will be built on the hospital premises, allowing students proximity to the practical training site. This proximity between theoretical teaching and the clinical environment constitutes an added value for the training of future health professionals.

Meet the plant commonly used in cooking that, when grown in a pot, keeps mosquitoes away

Basil, an aromatic plant widely used in cooking, especially in Italian cuisine, can be grown in a simple pot and works as a natural mosquito repellent thanks to its characteristic aroma. The plant does not need much space and is relatively easy to care for, making it ideal for placing on balconies, terraces, or near the kitchen. The months of May and June are the most suitable for planting, allowing it to develop during spring. As for watering, basil needs water frequently, especially in summer, but it is important to avoid waterlogging to ensure its proper development.
