Ana Beatriz Nogueira and Andréia Horta star together for the first time on stage in the play "Good Night, Mother," currently running at Teatro Poeira in Botafogo. The play is based on a text by American playwright Marsha Norman, considered one of the most impactful works in contemporary drama and winner of the Pulitzer Prize.
The play delves into the complexity of family bonds by portraying a Saturday night between mother and daughter. Through an unprecedented conversation between the two, secrets, resentments, affections, and silences accumulated over a lifetime begin to emerge, revealing the depth and tensions of this relationship.
The direction is by Leonardo Netto and the translation is by José Pedro Peter. The tension grows as the night progresses, leaving open the possibility that this may be the last encounter between the two characters. The play offers a profound reflection on autonomy, love, and the limits of family relationships.
