Books: "Any true thought is a short-circuit in the shadow", Pascal Quignard argues

Expresso3 September 2026 at 16:11

The French writer and thinker Pascal Quignard presents the work "Dying to Think," in which he once again demonstrates his unmistakable style of philosophical reflection. The book defends the idea that "any true thought is a short-circuit in the shadow."

Quignard distinguishes himself in the intellectual landscape by not systematizing his thought, deliberately refusing to build rigid and methodical philosophical systems. His approach contrasts with the philosophical tradition that seeks coherence and formal rigor.

Instead, the author investigates the subjects that interest him driven by what he describes as an omnivorous impetus, that is, vast and comprehensive, without adhering to predefined methodologies or rigid disciplinary boundaries.

The work is part of Quignard's literary and essay production, known for its originality and the way it mixes existential reflection, erudition, and writing that escapes traditional academic conventions.
