dstgroup launched the dst Industrial School in Soutelo, Vila Verde, Braga, with capacity for 124 students. The project results from a partnership between dstgroup, the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave (IPCA) and the Amar Terra Verde Professional School (EPATV), having been created by order of the Secretary of State for Education.
The school offers six professional level IV courses, intended for students who have completed the 9th year of schooling. The training areas include industrial construction, digital design and modeling of civil construction, manufacturing of metal construction components, wind and photovoltaic systems, electronics and communications, and railway maintenance. The training lasts three years and includes practical training in workshops, laboratories and technological spaces of dstgroup companies.
According to José Teixeira, President of the Board of Directors of dstgroup, the school's mission is to be a "Bauhaus for future workers", with the aim of reviving the tradition of the old industrial schools of the 1980s and dignifying professions. The educational model is based on the premise of "educating to be, educating to do", combining theory with practice.
Upon completion of training, students obtain secondary education with a level IV professional qualification, allowing them to enter the labor market or pursue higher education studies.
