Temperatures above average are expected to persist across most of Portuguese territory in the coming days, including the Azores archipelago. This anomalous thermal situation affects the entire archipelago, composed of nine islands, which should continue to register values above the normal reference climatological norm for much of the period under analysis.
However, a period of relative thermal normalization is forecast between Saturday and Sunday morning, during which values may approach normal temperatures or even fall slightly below average, countering the predominant trend of above-normal heat.
According to the ECMWF meteorological model, the Western and Central groups of the Azores should experience the most pronounced thermal anomalies across the entire archipelago. Between today and tomorrow, the most pronounced anomaly may reach up to 3 degrees Celsius above the historical average.
After this initial period, between Saturday and Sunday morning, a drop in thermal values is forecast, resulting in practically null anomalies, meaning temperatures closer to the climatological pattern expected for this time of year.
