Heat intensifies with temperatures above 40 degrees and African dust returns in force

SIC Notícias3 September 2026 at 13:49

The heat intensifies in Portugal with thermometers rising above 40 degrees in Setúbal and Évora. Until Saturday, 14 districts on the mainland are under yellow warning due to hot weather.

The high temperatures will mark the coming days, with special incidence in the southern regions of the country. Setúbal and Évora are the areas most affected by the heat wave.

African-origin dust also returns this Thursday to southern Portugal, affecting air quality and visibility. This phenomenon is common during periods of intense heat on the Iberian Peninsula.

The combination of extreme temperatures and African dust creates adverse meteorological conditions that require special care from the population.
