An invasive algae is occupying extensive areas of the seabed on the Sines coast. The species has spread significantly along the coastal zone of the municipality.

The phenomenon is not limited to the seabeds, as the invasive algae has also been accumulating on several beaches in the Sines municipality. The situation has raised concerns among authorities and the local community.

A researcher alerted to this expansion, emphasizing the need for monitoring and possible intervention to control the spread of the invasive species in the coastal ecosystems of the region.
