Drink driving: almost nine thousand crimes recorded by the GNR by July

The National Republican Guard detained 8,438 drivers for crimes related to drink driving between January and July, representing an average of about 280 detentions per week.

The highest number of cases involves drivers aged between 51 and 64, indicating that this age group is the most represented in these road crime statistics.

The regions of Porto, Setúbal, Aveiro, and Faro are those with the highest figures for crimes related to driving under the influence of alcohol.

This GNR assessment reveals the extent of the problem of driving under the influence of alcohol on Portuguese roads during the first seven months of the year.
