The prices of houses for rent in Portugal rose 4.9% in August, compared to the same month last year. This increase represents the second consecutive month of rises, after a first half of the year in which a downward trend in rental prices was observed.
According to the price index of the idealista portal, renting a house cost 18.1 euros per square meter at the end of the month of August. This value reflects the reversal of the downward trajectory that had been observed in the previous months.
The August rise thus moves away from the downward trend that had characterized the rental market during the first half of the year, signaling a possible change in the behavior of the Portuguese real estate sector.
