Mira de Aire Cemetery with Approved Support for Expansion

Região de Cister3 September 2026 at 09:00

The Municipality of Porto de Mós approved, at the City Council meeting of August 20, support worth 110 thousand euros for the acquisition of land to allow the expansion of Mira de Aire cemetery. The mayor, Jorge Vala, stated that 55 thousand euros will be attributed to the Parish Council this year and another 55 thousand euros next year.

According to Jorge Vala, the Mira de Aire cemetery is "practically" in a situation of "total occupancy," which motivated the need to acquire new land for its expansion.

The president of the Parish Council of Mira de Aire, Alcides Oliveira, confirmed that the deed for the acquisition of the land has already been signed, that the first tranche was paid this year, and that the second tranche will be paid in February next year. Alcides Oliveira also stated that the engineer of the Parish Council is drawing up the project to then proceed with the public procurement procedure.
