The price of the essential food basket composed of 63 products, monitored by DECO PROteste, increased by 2.11 euros in the week of 19 to 26 August, settling at 254.73 euros. This value represents a cumulative increase of 12.91 euros since the beginning of the year, which is equivalent to a rise of 5.34%.
Compared to previous periods, the same basket was 14.17 euros cheaper a year ago (a difference of 5.89%) and 67.03 euros cheaper at the beginning of 2022 (a difference of 35.71%), when DECO PROteste began monitoring these prices.
In the week between 19 and 26 August, the products with the highest percentage increases were spiral pasta, which rose 22% to 1.35 euros, spaghetti with an increase of 21% to 1.18 euros, and sliced bread without crust, which increased 14% to 2.50 euros.
Since the beginning of monitoring on 5 January 2022, the most significant percentage increases were recorded in braising beef (120%, now costing 12.81 euros/kg), large cod (89%, 20.02 euros/kg) and cauliflower (88%, 1.87 euros).
