US Open: Jaime Faria did scare Alcaraz but was eventually eliminated

Portuguese tennis player Jaime Faria was eliminated from the US Open after a clash with Carlos Alcaraz, the defending champion of the tournament. The Portuguese player managed to win the first set of the match, showing a competitive performance against the current champion.

However, Alcaraz, world number 3, managed to turn the result around and ended up winning the match 3-1 in sets. The elimination shows that Faria managed to scare the Spaniard, at least in the initial phase of the match, before being overcome by the defending champion's favoritism.

The US Open is one of the four Grand Slam tournaments and is held annually in New York. Carlos Alcaraz came into this edition as the defending champion, having won the event in the previous edition.
