The Polytechnic of Porto created the Technical University of Porto, which entered into operation on September 1. ESTG, School of Technology and Management, integrates this new university, which marks the beginning of a new phase in Portuguese public higher education.
UTPORTO was created by Decree-Law No. 145/2026, of July 17, succeeding the Polytechnic Institute of Porto. The new university assumes all attributions, competencies, rights and obligations of the previous institution.
The institution intends to strengthen its connection to the territory, to businesses and to society, strengthening the capacity for training, research and innovation. The objective is to contribute to a more diversified, competitive public higher education offer, prepared for future challenges.
In the National Access Competition 2026/2027, ESTG achieved an occupancy rate of 95.58%. The Law degree (Solicitadoria) once again registered the highest cutoff score nationwide, with 163.5 points.
