French football star Kylian Mbappé, one of the biggest names in world football, was in the sights of criminals who were planning his kidnapping. The revelation came after the arrest of an 18-year-old, identified by authorities as Clément L., detained on August 21 in Nanterre, France.
According to information published by the newspaper "Le Parisien," the young man is suspected of leading a series of robberies and kidnapping plans that occurred between April 11 and August 19 in the Neuilly-sur-Seine region. During the investigation, police seized Clément L.'s phone and found a compromising list with 26 addresses of singers, players, and other celebrities.
The group was monitoring these names as possible targets and, as pointed out by investigators, Mbappé was classified by the criminals as a "very rich target." The gang's intention was to approach the striker when he was in Paris.
Authorities managed to trace the group from evidence left at previous crimes. The case raises concerns about the security of high-profile celebrities and athletes in France.
