Finance also "profits" on the beaches of Viana

Alto Minho2 September 2026 at 18:23

Viana do Castelo is among the districts covered by the "Sea in Sight" operation, which since the end of July has taken the Tax and Customs Authority and the Maritime Police to the beaches to inspect beach concessions. The operation runs until September.

The action involved 63 inspectors from the Tax Authority and 58 members of the Maritime Police, with the teams also visiting the districts of Aveiro, Beja, Coimbra, Faro, Leiria, Lisbon, Porto and Setúbal.

During the inspections, several infractions were detected, mainly related to the lack of invoice issuance and the use of billing programs that do not comply with legal requirements.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the operation aims not only at inspection, but also at raising awareness among concession operators about compliance with tax obligations and contributing to fair competition among businesses.
