The president of the Assembly of the Republic, Aguiar Branco, expressed the intention to reinforce insular autonomy during a visit to the island of Pico.

The trip to the Azores archipelago began on the island of Pico and lasts three days.

The visit takes place a few days before the ceremonies commemorating the 50 years of autonomy of the Azores.

Aguiar Branco argued that insular autonomy should be reinforced, without specifying however what concrete measures he intends to see implemented.
