The head of European Union diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, indicated today that there is "broad support" among member states to restrict the issuance of tourist visas to Russian citizens. This position was expressed in the context of a broader debate on EU migration policy regarding Russia.
Kallas also referred to the intention to prohibit the entry of former Russian combatants into European territory, a measure that aims to address internal security concerns raised by several member countries of the European Union.
The measures under discussion come at a time of heightened tensions between the European Union and Russia, with European countries seeking ways to limit the mobility of Russian citizens who may pose security risks to the European bloc.
