A 42-year-old man is being tried at the Faro Court on suspicion of sexually abusing his two minor children. The trial began in December and is being held behind closed doors, by decision of the panel of judges.
The suspect had been in preventive detention since February 2025, but was released on June 26, after the court determined the change of precautionary measure. The new measure includes periodic appearances before authorities, prohibition of contact with the minors, and prohibition from leaving the country.
The alleged crimes reportedly occurred between April 2023 and July 2024. According to the Judicial Police, the abuse always took place in an environment totally controlled by the suspect.
The trial will resume in October.
